Welcome to First Gourmet! We know it is not easy to choose one bottle of spanish wine...maybe you have never tasted it before! We want to make your choice easier, explaining a little how to know what spanish wine we offer:
D.O. means Denominaci�n de Origen: This is the name given to a wine coming from a specific region and with particular qualities and character, primarily based on the variety of grape, the wine-making process and ageing - similar to the term 'appellation'.)
There are presently 55 "Denominaciones de Origen (D.O.)" in Spain, a good sign of the number, quality and variety of our wines.
In addition to the D.O. appellation, wines are also classified by the minimum time they have been aged in oak barrels and in the bottle before being put on sale.
RED WINE:
Crianza: Total ageing period: 2 full years (6 months in barrel and the rest in bottle)
Reserva:Total ageing period: 3 full years (12 months in barrel, the rest in bottle).
Gran Reserva: Total ageing period: 5 full years (24 months in barrel, the rest in bottle)
