In order to make a good wine, the basic factors are climate, soil, location and a conscientious approach, all of which are harmoniously blended in La Rioja to produce a maximum quality product.

La Rioja Red Wines

The internationally renowned red wines from La Rioja are fundamentally made from the tempranillo varietal (a light and fruity taste) which is blended with the graciano (lending bright colour and fruity taste, and one of the characteristic tastes of Rioja wines), the mazuelo (rich in tannin, it ages stylishly) and the garnacha grape (which provides the blend with body, meatiness and liveliness). An additional varietal used is the white grape viura.

The minimum alcohol content of Rioja red wines is 115% vol.

To enjoy the wine in the best possible conditions, we recommend serving it at a temperature between 16 and 18 degrees centigrade.

La Rioja White Wines:

Less well known, but top quality wines. They are fundamentally made from the viura, malvasa Riojana(which provides the spice and silkiness which combine so well with the vanillin and other oaky notes) and garnacha blanca varietals. There is a real choice of white wines from La Rioja; Jovenes with no oak at all - delicious, crisp, fresh, light easy-drinking wines suitable for an aperitif; sub-crianzas which may or may not meet the legal criteria for Crianza (six months in oak) but which offer a subtle hint of spicy oakiness without going over the top - fish wines par excellence; and traditional wines, made only in the best vintages by old-established vineyards.

The minimum alcohol content of rioja white wines is 10,5 % vol.

These wine should be served at a temperature of between 7 and 10 degrees centigrade to best appreciate their fine aromas and personality.
